Find a hiking buddy in Kuala Lumpur

Hiking alone is less fun, and less safe, than hiking with someone who knows the trail. The providers on this page are locals in Kuala Lumpur who enjoy hiking and take bookings to hike with you, by the hour.

Most KL hikes start before sunrise to beat the heat: Bukit Tabur for the ridge views, Broga Hill for the sunrise, Bukit Gasing and FRIM Kepong for an easier forest walk inside the city. Agree on the trail, the meeting point and the pace before you go.

How booking a hike works

Pick a hiking buddy, send a request with the date, the start time and the trail, and wait for them to accept. Your credits are held in escrow during the hike and are released only after it is done. If the hike does not go ahead as agreed, the dispute process protects your payment.

Choosing a trail

Tell your buddy how fit you are and how long you want to be out. Bukit Gasing and FRIM suit a first hike; Bukit Tabur is steep and rocky in places and is best with someone who has done it. Bring water, good shoes and a rain layer, and check the weather the night before.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a hiking buddy cost in Kuala Lumpur?

Each provider sets their own hourly rate, shown on their card before you book. You pay in credits (1 credit = SGD 1), held in escrow until the hike is complete.

Which trails can we do?

Any trail you and your buddy agree on. Popular choices around KL are Bukit Tabur, Broga Hill, Bukit Gasing, FRIM Kepong and Gunung Nuang.

I have never hiked before. Is that okay?

Yes. Say so in your request and pick an easier trail such as Bukit Gasing or FRIM, so your buddy can plan the route and the pace.
